Small Groups & Classes

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

Proverbs 27:17

Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church offers classes and small groups to encourage and support your growing faith. Learn more about the Bible, ask hard questions about life's challenges, and develop genuine community with other believers.

Sign up for a small group or class.

Small groups help people grow in their faith and build community. Our groups take place throughout the week in different neighborhoods, so use this form to find a group that's right for you. We'd love to have you join us!

Ascend Small Groups

Ascend is a practice for those growing to be more like Jesus. Using the rhythms of daily prayer and weekly conversation with others, Ascend invites us to reflect on how we are growing in three areas: gratitude, surrender, and calling.

Women's Bible Study

Wednesday | 7 pm

Leader | Susan Kennedy
The Wednesday Women's Bible Study will begin a four-week study, Known by Name: Naomi, from June 1 through June 22. This Bible study will take us through Naomi’s journey from comfort and security to despair and bitterness; from hopeless drifting to faithful obedience; and from loss to redemption in one short lifetime. We’ll learn that when we go through trauma, loss, and hardship, it’s normal to feel Just. So. Done. Yet God remains close. He is not done. He can and will redeem even in our darkest circumstances.

New participants are welcome! We meet on Wednesdays at 7 pm over Zoom. For info or to join, contact Sue Kennedy.

We are working through a five-week video study entitled “One Thousand Gifts” by Ann Voskamp. Join us to take on the life-changing discipline of journaling God’s gifts – to discover a way of seeing that opens our eyes to ordinary amazing grace, a way of living that is fully alive, and a way of becoming present that brings deep and lasting joy.

To sign up, contact Sharon Szabo or Cyndee Cordivari.

Christian Reading Group

Every Other Monday | 7 pm

Leader | N. Janine Dickey
This small group reads and discusses Christian literature and writings -- old and current. Our readings are meant to inspire personal insight into Christianity and evoke questions about our faith which we will discuss in a confidential small group environment. We welcome persons in any and all stages of their faith journey and with varied religious backgrounds.

Our group will meet every other week on Mondays from 7-8:30 pm. We will begin remotely using Zoom and discuss one or more chapters per meeting. Occasional in-person gatherings may be scheduled to enrich our group's relational growth.

We are currently reading "Hope in Times of Fear," by Tim Keller. New participants are always welcome.

Meditation Group

Monday | 7:30 pm

Tuesday | 8:30 am or 4:30 pm

Meditation is an ancient Christian discipline that offers both spiritual and physical benefits. We will explore techniques that anyone can learn and use on their own.  Experience guided meditations that are focused on opening our hearts and minds to God. Equally beneficial for the regular attender and occasional participant.

There are three opportunities to attend: Mondays at 7:30 pm, Tuesdays at 8:30 am, or Tuesdays at 4:30 pm.

Thursday Night Bible Study

Thursday | 7:30 pm

Leaders | Timothy & Sue Grubb
This small group has been meeting continuously since 1992. Each Thursday night, we join in hybrid fashion – live, and via Zoom – for 90 minutes of singing, lessons, and prayer. New members welcome.

Faith Cafe

Sunday | 9 am & 10:30 am

Faith Cafe's relaxed environment is a great place to ask faith questions. New participants are always welcome. Faith Cafe meets in person. The same class is offered twice each Sunday at 9 am and 10:30 am.

TraVERSEing the Word

Wednesday | 7 pm

Join us in a welcoming, un-intimidating atmosphere in this verse-by-verse Bible study. We are studying the book of Mark. From beginner to Bible scholar, all are welcome to join us at any time. The Bible is the only book we use, and there are no homework assignments. Kevin Fox leads us in this study.

Journey explores your personal faith journey, what it means to be a covenant partner (member) of Liberty Corner Church, and ways to connect and grow your faith. Journey is a series of classes and participants may choose to join the church following the series.

Contact Rev. Anne Havrilla for information about the next series.

Starting Point

If you're new to faith, just checking it out or coming back to church after some time away, Starting Point is a great first step. It's an 8-week conversational group environment where you can discuss the questions and concerns you have about faith.
